County tax collection at 95 percent for FY2023

Gasconade County Collector Shawn Schlottach reports that as of the end of the fiscal year the 2023 tax collection rate reached 95 percent.

Total collections for 2023 as of Feb. 29 are $17,872,047.30. The total charges and credits listed for 2023 were both listed at $18,842,809.50. Total back taxes owed is $1,055,713.78 and there are $937,008.80 worth of taxes listed as delinquent.

There was also $33,753.50 worth of taxes listed as “abatements” and $334,041.01 listed as “other.”

There were no protested taxes.

Schlottach’s report includes receipts for railroad and utilities, M & M licenses, forest crop land, payment in lieu of taxes, levees, along with late penalties and fees.

Schlottach’s annual report also shows an overall summary of the total collections disbursed to specific taxing entities:

A detailed breakdown of multiple entities receiving tax funding includes eight area school districts which will divide up $11,952,083.71 in tax collections. Those include:

R1G Hermann: $4,943,135.87

R2G Owensville: $6,263,883.87

R2M Belle-Bland: $532,757.32

R1O Chamois: $108,830.92

R2O Linn: $22,197.06

R1P St. James: $38,358.26

R2C Cuba: $10,016.12

R16F Strain-Japan: $32,904.29

Ambulance districts in the region will divide up $386,500.30 in tax collections.

Hermann: $149,640.11

Owensville: $98,133.93

Ozark: $66,839.13

Osage: $993.87

Gerald: $70,893.26

Two Road and Bridge funds in the county will divide tax collections of $763,674.45:

C1: $744,573.20

S4: $19,101.25

Three fire protection districts with tax collections in the county will divide $130,181.56:

Gerald-Rosebud: $63,695.05

Berger-New Haven: $18,906.31

Bland: $47,580.20

Municipalities with taxes collected by the county will split $657,754.81:

Hermann: $181,169.53

Owensville: $341,870.92

Bland: $54,124.96

Rosebud: $26,635.85

Gasconade: $44,280.17

Morrison: $9,673.38

The county collects personal property and real estate taxes for the cities of Owensville, Hermann, Bland, Rosebud, Morrison and Gasconade. The Collector’s office retains a portion collected as its fee. A drive-up drop box on the west side of the courthouse at the top of the ramp is available for undisputed tax payments. Or you may mail in your tax payment, pay in person, pay online at www.gasconadecountycollector.com, or use the 800 number on the tax bill to pay by phone.

Delinquent property tax statements are being mailed April 30, according to Schlottach.
