Owensville Senior Center’s meal programs received support this month from a benefit meal and auctions held at Seasons of Faith church on Aug. 18 and a donation from Three Rivers Electric Cooperative’s Helping Hands Community Foundation.

The dinner and auction brought in nearly $10,000, according to Sharon Nowack, administrator of the Owensville Senior Center. Jason and Charles Gross from Gross Auction called the sale. A silent auction was also held during the dinner which served 67 participants.

The center’s homebound meal program received an added boost with a $5,000 donation from the Helping Hands Community Foundation of Three Rivers Electric Cooperative.

Owensville Senior Center serves 62 Gasconade County residents who receive meals through the homebound program, according to Three Rivers Electric Cooperative’s Helping Hands Community Foundation.

The center also serves 393 individuals who use the center for the daily meal program housed at the facility. Donated funds will be used to purchase supplies and meals that are distributed to the elderly served by the program. Clients enrolled in the homebound program are from the Gasconade County communities of Morrison, Gascony Village on Route J out of Hermann, Hermann, Swiss, Drake, Bland, Owensville and rural areas throughout the county. The Owensville Senior Center has clients from Belle, Bland, Mt. Sterling, Hermann, Drake, Rosebud and Owensville.
