Over the upcoming weekend, Dustin Howard’s Owensville Dutchmen wrestlers will look to play the role of dragon slayers during the upcoming Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 2, District 1 Boys Wrestling Tournament at Ste. Genevieve High School.
Bailee Dare and Kelby Schoenfeld have already punched their tickets to the 2023 MSHSAA Wrestling Championships coming up on Feb. 22-23 in Columbia at Mizzou Arena.
They are hoping for some Dutchmen to join them.
Orange and black grapplers that will be looking to do just that will include senior Gabe Soest at 150 pounds, sophomore Timmy Winterbauer at 157 pounds, freshman Garrett Hunter at 165 pounds, sophomore Kaleb Wells at 175 pounds, freshman Brendan Kramme at 190 pounds, sophomore Logan Bailey at 215 pounds and junior Hayden Shoemaker at 285 pounds.
Hosted by Ste. Genevieve High School, the Dutchmen and host Dragons will be competing against wrestlers from Affton, Central (Park Hills), Dexter, Herculaneum, Kennett, Mary Institute Country Day School (MICDS), Potosi, Soldan International Studies, St. Clair, St. Mary’s, Sullivan, University City and Westminster Christian Academy.
Wrestling will begin on Friday, Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m., and at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18.
