Cases against Ryan Michael Johnson and Stacey Leanne Olvera, both of Mt. Sterling, moved forward recently in the courts of Gasconade County related to a September incident reported by the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) and Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).
Both parties were charged with the class D felony of possession of a controlled substance following the report of a domestic altercation on Mt. Sterling Road, north of Owensville, Sept. 4.
According to the probable cause statement, GCSO arrived at a residence on Mt. Sterling Road just after 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 4 over an alleged physical domestic assault, finding Johnson in custody by MSHP. Johnson reportedly told law enforcement they should ask Olvera about a plate located under the bed in the bedroom with methamphetamine on it and permitted them to enter the home to locate it. GCSO reported locating the plate where Johnson stated it was and the residue on the plate field testing positive for methamphetamine.
Both parties were taken into custody with bond set at $5,000 cash or surety for Olvera and $5,000 cash only for Johnson.
Johnson originally faced an additional charge of third degree domestic assault, but that charge was dismissed without prejudice Nov 19 when his case was bound over to Division I with a court date of Dec. 19 at 9 a.m. with Judge Craig Hellmann presiding.
Olvera’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 21, 2026, at 1 p.m. with Judge Ada Brehe-Krueger presiding
