Gasconade County baseball bragging rights and a notch in the Four Rivers Conference (FRC) win column.

Steven Kemp’s Owensville Dutchmen baseball team was looking for those things and more last Thursday at Dick Oschner Field in Hermann against the host Bearcats.

Trailing 2-1 after two innings, Owensville turned four hits and three errors into three runs helping them go on to a 6-3 victory.

Breaking the scoreless tie in the top of the first inning, Dutchmen senior leadoff hitter Landon Ely doubled and scored on a Zaiden Gates RBI single giving OHS an early 1-0 lead.

Hermann got on the board in the bottom of the second on a two-run home run off the bat of Trenton Lampkin giving the Bearcats a 2-1 lead after two innings.

Laine Baumbach started the top of the third inning with a one-out single before scoring on a pair of Hermann errors to tie the game at 2-2.

After an Ely single, Gates singled before another Bearcat miscue allowed Ely to score giving the Dutchmen their one-run lead back.

Following a Chris Allen single, Landon Kramme delivered a RBI ground out scoring Gates helping the orange and black to a 4-2 lead.

Hermann got a run back in the bottom of the third inning when Trace Erfling singled and scored on a Charlie Tyree RBI single trimming the Dutchmen lead to 4-3 after three innings.

Navigating through a scoreless fourth inning, Owensville looked to add a couple of insurance runs to their lead. Ely walked with one out in the top of the fifth inning before Gates reached on an error setting up a two-on, two-out situation for Kramme.

Lining a base hit up the middle into center field, Kramme delivered a two-RBI single helping Owensville to their final margin of victory.

Chase Weirich earned the win pitching six innings allowing three runs on five hits and two walks to go with eight strikeouts.

Colton Skiles pitched a scoreless, hitless seventh inning of relief.

Ely led the Dutchmen with three hits and three runs scored from the leadoff spot.

Lampkin took the loss for Hermann pitching five innings allowing six runs (three earned) on eight hits and a walk to go with five strikeouts. He also had two hits and two RBIs at the plate.

In a three-inning JV game, Owensville and Hermann played to a 2-2 tie.

Dillon Schulte had a hit and a run scored while Adam Wilson also had a RBI single.

Westin Kramme had the other Dutchmen hit.

Owen Binkhoelter, Alex Trotter and Leyton Homeyer each pitched an inning for Owensville.

Friday on the road at Father Tolton in Columbia, Owensville fell 10-0 in five innings with the lone hit coming from Kramme.

Layne Evans, Jaden Gerlemann, Allen and Gates also walked against the Trailblazers.

Elias Medlock took the loss pitching two and two-thirds innings allowing nine runs (seven earned) on five hits and four walks to go with one strikeout.

Also falling 15-1 to Father Tolton in the junior-varsity game, Owensville got a hit from Schulte while Wilson singled and scored the lone run for the orange and black.

Brady Smith’s Dutchmen freshmen also saw action Friday falling 21-7 against Capital City at OHS Field.

Brock Heidbrink and Alex Trotter each scored two runs while Grant Huebler had a team-high two hits.

Scoring runs along with Heidbrink were Cael Walker, Corbin Brand, and Huebler.

Last Wednesday, the Dutchmen freshmen defeated Cuba 12-2 in five innings behind two hits apiece from Broden Kelley, Huebler and Walker.

Heidbrink scored a team-high three runs while Liam Rasmussen and Walker each scored a pair of runs.

Falling 12-0 on the road at Blair Oaks last Wednesday, JV Dutchmen breaking up a Falcon bid for a no-hitter included Henry Womack, Paden Loeb and Wilson.
