OHS Track wins 12 events in home open meet

Matt Candrl’s Owensville High School (OHS) track teams did that last Tuesday during the Owensville Open held at Dutchmen Field.

Owensville’s Dutchmen topped the team standings with 131 points ahead of Sullivan (98), Father Tolton (86), South Callaway (65), New Haven (16) and Belle (14).

Beginning the meet with the 4x800-meter relay, the Dutchmen had two teams in the field.

Taking first in a time of 9:34.26 was the OHS foursome of Felix Guerrero, Zach Holtmeyer, Kyle Bollman and Ty Price.

Also placing third in 10:22.96 was the Owensville quartet of Drake Dietrich, Tristan Strothkamp, Chris Reyes and Braden Perkins.

Landon Losch (2nd, 17.27) and Jordan Bialczyk (5th, 19.73) placed in the top five of the boys 110m hurdles for Owensville.

Johannes Berg led three Dutchmen in the top 10 of the boys 100m dash with a third-place time 12.06.

Isaiah Gates (9th, 12.32) and Connor Wellman (10th, 12.34) rounded out the top 10 of the boys 100m dash.

Taking third place in the boys 4x200m relay was the Dutchmen squad of Liam Rasmussen, Cody Lenauer, Chase Crosby and Wellman in a time of 1:48.08.

In the boys 4x100m relay for throwers, Owensville’s team of Hayden Shoemaker, Eli Graham, Brandon Graham and Kien Bayless posted a second-place time of 55.51.

Guerrero won the boys mile in 4:50.61 while Holtmeyer (3rd, 5:09.79) and Bollman (9th, 5:36.51) also finished in the top 10.

Crosby (4th, 58.99) and Dominick Eikermann (22nd, 1:25.62) competed for the Dutchmen in the boys 400m dash.

Sprinting to a third-place time of 47.69 in the boys 4x100m relay was the OHS quartet of Ricky Marquez, Bialczyk, Gates and Berg.

Also taking fifth in 50.89 was the Owensville team of Liam Lawrence, Rasmussen, Lenauer and Wellman.

Losch (2nd, 47.95) and Bialczyk (5th, 51.20) also posted top-five times in the boys 300m hurdles.

Four Dutchmen placed in the top nine of the boys 800m run which included Guerrero (2nd, 2:11.99), Holtmeyer (3rd, 2:18.26), Bollman (6th, 2:33.22) and Dietrich (9th, 2:35.79).

Closing the meet on the track with a second-place time of 3:56.44 in the boys 4x400m relay was Owensville’s team of Guerrero, Holtmeyer, Losch and Marquez.

Crosby won the high jump for OHS clearing 1.60m while Zayden Garver (5th, 1.35m) and Perkins (6th, 1.30m) also placed in the boys high jump for Owensville.

Trenton Million led five Dutchmen in the top nine of the boys pole vault clearing 3.35m for second place.

Also placing for OHS were Ricardo Marquez (3rd, 3.35m), Steven Buddemeyer (8th, 2.60m), Werner Lein (9th, 2.45m) and Logan Valley (9th, 2.45m).

Marquez also won the boys long jump with a leap of 5.40m followed by Berg (2nd, 5.32m), Xavier Bayless (5th, 4.92m) and Crosby (6th, 4.90m) in the top six of the event. Xavier Bayless led four Dutchmen in the top 10 of the boys triple jump with a third-place leap of 10.67m.

Also in the top 10 were Bialczyk (5th, 10.26m), Valley (7th, 9.82m) and Jayden Stewart (10th, 9.66m). Eli Graham won the boys discus with a throw of 41.41m followed in the top nine by Shoemaker (5th, 29.34m) and Brandon Graham (9th, 27.32m). Adding to his win in the discus, Eli Graham led a slew of Dutchmen with a ninth-place throw of 32.82m in the boys javelin.

Also throwing the javelin for OHS were Xavier Bayless (10th, 32.00m), Brandon Graham (14th, 28.86m), Stewart (16th, 26.33m), Walker (18th, 26.12m), Kien Bayless (25th, 22.46m) and Joaquin Lopez (29th, 15.57m).

Turning the corner the fastest, Berg won the boys 200m dash in a time of 24.91.

Owensville’s Dutchgirls placed second as a team with 99 points behind Sullivan’s first-place total of 111 points. Winning the girls 4x800m relay in 10:45.59 was the Dutchgirl foursome of Ilene Limberg, Brynn Wright, Hannah Gehlert and Abbie Gibson. Leading three Dutchgirls in the top eight of the girls 100m hurdles was Emma-Lee Wehmeyer’s first-place time of 17.75.

Cameron Ryerson (7th, 21.35) and Elaina Lebish (8th, 21.92) also competed for the Dutchgirls in the 100m hurdles.

Lilly Sample led four Dutchgirls in the 100m dash with a 12th-place time of 15.30. Also sprinting for the Dutchgirls in the event were Ruvia Nowack (17th, 15.86), Ashlynn Weigel (21st, 16.31) and Cylee Reed (28th, 17.18).

Adding to their win in the 4x800m relay, the Dutchgirl 4x200m relay team of Emma-Lee Wehmeyer, Ali Daniels, Emma Daniels and Cameron Nowack posted a first-place time of 1:57.35.

Limberg (1st, 5:36.16), Gehlert (3rd, 6:12.69) and Gibson (4th, 6:17.48) took three of the top four spots for Owensville in the girls 1600m run.

Wright posted a second-place time of 1:09.19 in the girls 400m dash while the same quartet of Dutchgirls that won the 4x200m relay also claimed the top spot in the girls 4x100m relay with a time of 55.62.

Lebish posted a fourth-place time of 1:03.97 in the girls 300m hurdles. Limberg (2nd, 2:32.44) and Gibson (4th, 2:55.60) claimed two of the top four spots in the girls 800m run while Gehlert posted a second-place time of 13:20.63 in the girls 3200m run. Emma Daniels, Ali Daniels, Wright and Limberg teamed up to place second in the girls 4x400m relay in a time of 4:26.62.

Halle Engelbrecht and Emma-Lee Wehmeyer both cleared 1.25m in the girls high jump placing sixth and seventh respectively.

Ruvia Nowack (2nd, 2.15m) and Arianna Baguio (6th, 1.55m) placed in the top six of the girls pole vault.

Cameron Nowack placed second in the girls long jump with a leap of 4.35m while also taking third in the girls triple jump with a mark of 8.96m. Kiana Wehmeyer (10th, 21.48m), Brianna Beckerman (13th, 20.84m) and Danika Hinson (19th, 18.99m) finished within the top 20 of the girls discus for Owensville.

Beckerman led the same trio with a 10th-place throw of 7.55m in the girls shot put. Zynietra Sharp posted her best throw of the meet placing 29th in the girls shot put with a mark of 5.04m.

Hinson posted her best mark of the meet with an eighth-place throw of 21.22m in the girls javelin. Emma Daniels led four Dutchgirls in the top 10 of the girls 200m dash with a first-place time of 27.94.

Also in the top 10 were Wright (5th, 31.15), Sample (6th, 32.62) and Engelbrecht (34.62).

After competing in Union last night (Tuesday), Candrl’s Dutchmen and Dutchgirls will host the annual OHS Relays on Friday, April 12 with events beginning at 3:30 p.m.
