Hermann High School FCCLA chapter members joined 185 FCCLA members from across Region 5 at Rolla Technical Institute for the annual Regional STAR Events competition.
Regional officer elections were held and those officers were installed during the event.
Students competed in STAR Events — Students Taking Action with Recognition — and presented projects highlighting leadership, career readiness, and chapter involvement. Projects were evaluated by dedicated industry leaders and community volunteers. This year’s contest coordinator was Region Vice President Josie Neill from Hermann.
Hermann High School had six chapter members advance to state competition including Grace Engemann who earned a first-place award in Baking and Pastry at Level 3.
Taylor Lauer placed first with a score of 98 in the Career Investigation, Level 3, competititon.
Milo Lammert and Lizzie Cook scored a 99 and placed first win their Chapter in Review Portfolio, Level 2, entry.
DeLaney Williams had a score of 99 to place first in the Level 3 Chapter Service Project competition.
Elliot Geers advances to state competition with a first-place finish in the Level 2 Food Innovations division.
In addition to competing, students ran for regional and state officer positions, delivering speeches and answering randomly selected situational questions. Voting delegates ranked candidates based on their performance. While Hermann didn’t have members running for office this year, elections and installation ceremony were led by Region President Taylor Lauer of Hermann.
During breaks, members prepared for competitions, connected with friends, and participated in fun “get to know you” activities led in part by Josie Neill.
“We are thankful for our students, advisors, judges, volunteers, and the Regional Executive Council for making this event a success,” said chapter advisor Lana Koelling, FACS instructor at Hermann High School. “The day truly showcased the leadership, confidence, and dedication of FCCLA members across Region 5.”
