OWENSVILLE —Charges were filed last week against Pigg Hollow Road resident Jacqueline Renee Baker and Justin Robert Louis Protte of Cuba following a report filed by the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) accusing the pair of violent offenses.
Last Wednesday, Baker was charged with the class E felony domestic assault – third degree, and two counts of misdemeanor kidnapping – third degree.
Protte was charged with the class B felony assault – first degree or attempt, the unclassified felony armed criminal action, the class E felony of assault – third degree and two counts of kidnapping.
According to the probable cause statement, an incident was reported in which Baker and Protte are accused of arriving at Baker’s residence, confronting other residents with claims they stole $6,000 and further altercations ensuing.
Protte is accused of forcing both victims to search an RV and mobile home, making threats of bodily harm or death and placing a knife to the male victim’s throat before knocking him to the ground and assaulting him by punching him and kicking him in the head with workboots.
GCSO reported Baker intervened during the altercation but then held down the victim while he was being assaulted by Protte.
The female victim reportedly fled to the wooded area and the male victim was allegedly permitted by the suspects to get up and leave once giving them his phone.
GCSO reported visible bruising to the male victim’s face along with dried blood and cuts on his lower back and hands.
Both suspects were picked up via a warrant issued and served the following day, transported to Osage County Jail and released on bond. Bond was set at $20,000 each.
Their arraignments are scheduled in Gasconade County Division 4 Court on Dec. 17 at 9 a.m. with Associate Circuit Judge Ada Brehe-Krueger presiding.
