Firefighters from the Gerald-Rosebud Fire Protection District responded to a house fire Saturday, May 2, around noon.
Upon their arrival, firefighters found a home in the 9200 block of Droste Road where fire was rapidly spreading in the rear of the home.
According to Battalion Chief Hayden Schoenfeld, an aggressive response to the blaze brought it under control. While the home had extensive damage, it was not a total loss thanks to the crews’ efforts. There was smoke damage throughout the structure.
All occupants and pets had evacuated the home.
Crews from Beaufort-Leslie, Union, Sullivan and Owensville fire districts also responded to the scene to assist. The New Haven-Berger department moved up to the Gerald station to provide coverage.
It was deemed that embers from a previous small fire outside started the house fire.
No injuries were reported.
