Gasconade County 2025 tax statements to be mailed Nov. 10

Posted

Gasconade County’s 2025 current tax charge will generate approximately $18,988,873, according to a report provided by Collector Shawn Schlottach.

Real estate and personal property taxes are expected to produce $16,538,426 in receipts. Railroad and utility taxes are estimated at $2,418,752.  Business licenses, private rail car tax and drainage levee districts make up the remaining charge.

The tax charge will be shared among 40 separate political taxing entities with certified property tax levies. Delinquency notices, not included in the above totals, will also be mailed.

Increases and decreases in district tax rates are as follows:

Decreasing tax levies are listed for the city of Bland (1.9031), ambulance (.0216), East Central College (.0230), and the following schools including Hermann R1G (.0693), Belle R2M (.0722), Osage Chamois R1O (.2524), and Franklin Strain-Japan R16F (.1317).

Increasing tax levies include the city of Owensville (.0558) and for residents in the newly created Owensville Fire Protection District (.3000).

The county collects ad valorem personal property and real estate taxes for all six cities within Gasconade County which have a certified tax rate. City taxes for Hermann, Owensville, Bland, Rosebud, Gasconade and Morrison are included on the county tax statements.

Payment of taxes can be remitted any time after Nov. 1 by mail, in-person, and a drop box located at the top of ramp outside the courthouse. Payments may also be made by phone by calling 1-800-652-0405 or on-line by visiting the county’s secure web site 24/7:  www.gasconadecountycollector.com.

Those paying with a credit card will be charged a convenience fee of 2.45% of the total transaction (with a minimum fee of $1.55). Or, a $4 flat fee will be added when paying by debit card. This fee is not retained by the Collector or the county. Paid receipt(s) are mailed from the Collector’s office within one business day. The website also contains other helpful county tax information.

Eligible taxpayers can file for tax credits under the “Missouri Property Tax Credit Program” by contacting the Missouri Department of Revenue 573-751-3505 or website: http://dor.mo.gov>taxation>individual>tax-types>property-tax-credit.

SB 190 Senior Tax Credit will not be applied to the 2025 real estate tax statement on one’s primary residence (homestead). Due to budgeting cost of implementation and statewide pending litigation, Gasconade County Commissioners will re-visit SB 190 in 2026.

To avoid late fees, all taxes are due by Dec. 31. If you are paying by mail, the “Post Mark” date determines status. If one owns property, personal or real estate and does not receive a tax bill by Nov. 20, you are asked to contact the County Collector’s Office at 573-486-2711.

Tax statements are mailed as a convenience to the taxpayer. Failure to receive a tax statement does not relieve the taxpayer of their obligation to pay taxes when due.

2026 Personal Property Assessment forms will be mailed the first week of January and must be returned to Assessor’s office by March 1, 2026, to avoid a late assessment penalty.

Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except when the courthouse is closed on holidays.
