Gasconade County — A Pictorial History will be released by the Gasconade County Historical Society at the Society’s annual meeting on Nov. 19 at Zion-St. Paul Church, 2428 State Hwy. K in Bay. The meeting will begin at 2 p.m.

Following a brief business meeting Terry Loehnig of rural Hermann will portray a German Pelznickel, telling the story of the ragged fur-clad Christmas gift-giver. Loehnig will share stories about European Christmas traditions that have been passed down through generations. After his presentation, Mrs. Loehnig will entertain with her accordion.

The winner of the Society’s annual quilt raffle will also be drawn at this meeting.

Gasconade County — A Pictorial History, the Society’s latest publication, contains nearly 300 photos that open windows to the county’s past. Many of the photos are from private collections so likely have never been seen by the general public. Each of the photos is accompanied by a caption containing historical information about the photo.

After the Nov. 19 meeting at Bay, the new book will be available at the GCHS Archives and Records Center at 315 Schiller in Hermann, at the GCHS Museum at 105 West McFadden in Owensville, and at www.gasconadecountyhistoricalsociety.com. It will also be available during Christmas Tablescapes at the Rotunda in Hermann the first two weekends in December. The book will retail for $30.
