A Gerald woman seriously injured Oct. 9 in a U.S. 50 crash she caused was arrested and faces charges of possession of under a gram of crystal methamphetamine, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.
Heather N. Emily, 32, was flown to Mercy Hospital St. Louis following and early-morning crash involving four vehicles on U.S. 50 west of Segelhorst Road. According to the MSHP report by Trooper H.H. Hoenmann, Emily was driving a 2008 Kia Sedona west on U.S. 50 and “failed to maintain control” of the vehicle.
She travelled across the centerline and struck the front left side of an eastbound 2008 Ford Focus being driven by Ruth A. Rudolph, 64, of Owensville. This left side to left side impact caused Rudolph’s car to spin around and go off the right side of the highway. Rudolph’s car came to a stop facing south.
The Kia driven by Emily continued forward and struck the front of a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado travelling east and driven by Brittany N. Feth, 27, of Beaufort. The head-on impact caused extensive damage to the pickup truck driven by Feth.
Both vehicles came to a stop blocking the eastbound lan of U.S. 50.
Also driving eastbound at the time was Michael P. Tripoli, 32, Owensville, who was unable to avoid a collision and struck the rear of Feth’s vehicle with its front end. The 2008 Chrysler Sebring Tripoli was driving came to a stop blocking the east lane, facing east. He had minor damage to his vehicle, the patrol noted, and he drove the car from the scene.
The Focus Rudolph was driving and the Kia Emily was driving were both listed as “total” damage. Three vehicles were towed from the scene by Patriot Towing.
Everyone but Emily was wearing a seat belt. The report notes Emily did not have insurance while the others all did.
In January 2019 Emily was cited on allegations of driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving resulting in a crash. She was also charged in that case with failure to maintain financial responsibility in the case brought by Troop C of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
She is scheduled to appear in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court before Judge Stanley D. Williams on Nov. 27. All three charges in that case are listed as misdemeanors.
