Health agency cites potential COVID-19 exposures at businesses, wine festival

HERMANN — Gasconade County’s Health Department warns of potential public COVID-19 exposures since Nov. 25 at three Hermann businesses and one in Owensville in the past week along with one festival event in Hermann.

A Nov. 25 notice announced the county’s health agency as notified of a potential virus exposure during at Nov. 21 Wine Trail event held at Celebration Hall, 315 East First Street in Hermann. Patrons of the event from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p,m. that Saturday were asked to monitor for any signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

Two separate public health notices were issued  Sunday involving four separate businesses — three in Hermann and one at the Walmart in Owensville.

In the Walmart instance, the potential exposure occurred on Friday, Nov. 27, between the hours of 9:30 and 10 a.m.

A potential exposure to the virus was reported on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at El Ranchito restaurant in Hermann between the hours of 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. and at Dos Primos restaurant in Hermann between the hours of 5:30 and 6 p.m.

Health officials said “If you were at these locations on these days and time frames, please monitor yourself for any signs and symptoms of COVID-19.”

Also on Nov. 29, officials issued a release in cooperation with representatives of the Fernweh Distillery in Hermann regarding a possible COVID-19 exposure there between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Nov. 21.

“As per Fernweh management, they have implemented several enhanced safety measures throughout the Covid-19 pandemic such as increased sanitation practices, temperature checks, required PPE for staff and mask policies for customers, limited seating capacity and adjusted service practices to support social distancing,” according to county health. “We are asking you to monitor yourself if you were at this facility on this day and time frame, for signs and symptoms of COVID-19.”

Symptoms to watch for include: fever greater than 100.4, chills, muscle aches, runny nose, sore throat, loss of taste, loss of smell, headache, fatigue, cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, nausea/vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea.

Health officials urges that if you develop any of these symptoms, you should contact your medical provider. If you should have questions, contact the Gasconade County Health Department or your medical provider. “During this period of increased covid-19 cases please take extra precautions if you must get out in public. Maintain distancing recommendations, wear a facemask,” the department warned.
