OWENSVILLE — An attorney for an Owensville man charged Oct. 7 with five felony child sex crimes on Tuesday requested a continuance to the next available docket for a bond hearing.
Daniel J. Briegel with White, Briegel & Hiatt represent Ryan James Hereford, a resident of the 700 block of North Second Street in Owensville, who was previously denied bond. Hereford was charged Oct. 7 with four felony counts alleging statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy of a person less than 12 years of age and one felony count of statutory rape or attempted statutory rape, first degree, of a person less than 14 years of age.
The probable cause statement submitted by an investigator and commissioned law enforcement officer with the Missouri State Assistance Team (STAT) alleges Hereford committed the offenses against the victim beginning at the age of 8 in July 2019 through February 2024 at a residence in the 100 block of North Alvarado Avenue in Belle. The investigator reports Hereford denying sexual conduct with the child, but that he stated the child showed sexual interest in him.
Hereford was being held at the Osage County Jail on Tuesday.
