Hermann Wine Trail features six wineries for Dec. 13 tour

Six area wineries are on the Say Cheese Wine Trail scheduled Saturday, Dec. 13.

The Hermann Wine Trail meanders for 20 scenic miles along the Missouri River between Hermann and New Haven. Held annually the second Saturday of December, the Say Cheese Wine Trail coincides with a number of other holiday events in Missouri Wine Country.

“There are some general guidelines for wine and cheese pairings—red wine with hard cheese, white wine with soft cheese — but no hard and fast rules,” according to Patty Held, president of the Hermann Wine Trail.  “Like everything having to do with wine, it’s all a matter of taste.”

The 2025 Say Cheese tasting menu features:

• Adam Puchta Winery — Grilled Cheese on Sourdough with Estate Norton Jelly, paired with Estate Norton.

• Dierberg Star Lane Tasting Room — Baked Goat Cheese Salad, paired with Dierberg Chardonnay.

• G. Husmann Wine Company — Artichoke-Prosciutto Gratin, paired with Amalia Manwaring.

• Hermannhof Winery — Cream Cheese Pound Cake Cookies with Spicy Chocolate Dipping Sauce, paired with Vignoles.

• Reserve Cellars — Gingerbread Cheesecake Dip, paired with Julius Ruediger.

• Röbller Vineyard — Curated Flight of Locally Produced Cool Cow Cheese, paired with Vidal Reserve 2022.

The Say Cheese Wine Trail is one of six annual events hosted by Hermann-area vintners. The $35 ticket price includes a souvenir wine glass. Participants also may enter a drawing for a $30 gift certificate from each winery and a one-night stay at a Hermannbed and breakfast. The ticket price does not include transportation to wineries or additional wine tasting.

Tickets may be purchased online at HermannWineTrail.com or by calling 573-294-2228. Advance purchase is required.

The 2026 Wine Trail calendar opens with Chocolate Wine Trail, Feb. 28-March 1, a popular winter getaway. On April 11, the Farmers’ Table Wine Trail will showcase Missouri products. A new Winetails and Tapas Trails event, May 2-3, will tempt Wine Trail explorers with creative wine cocktails and delectable appetizers. Berries & BarBQ Wine Trail, July 25-26, will celebrate the flavors of summer. The Holiday Fare Wine Trail, Nov. 21-22, will open the holiday season with a new progressive dinner-style format.
