Lady Bearcat Volleyball sweeps St. James

Ending the Four Rivers Conference (FRC) portion of their season last Thursday night at St. James, Tess Schannuth’s Hermann Lady Bearcats looked to cap a sweep of all three matches after the C and JV Lady Bearcats won their matches in two sets.

Holding St. James to single digits during all three sets of varsity action, Hermann won the varsity match in three sets by scores of 25-9, 25-8 and 25-6.

Jillian Fredrick paced the Lady Bearcats with 10 kills followed closely by Ashlyn Hughes with nine kills and Kalli Landolt with seven.

Landolt also led Hermann with three aces to go along with two apiece from the trio of Kealie Lane, Jana Limberopolous and Hughes.

Brynlee Ash and Fredrick each also had an ace for the Lady Bearcats at St. James.

Adding to her two aces, Lane also led Hermann with 12 digs.

Recently going over 1,000 career assists, Jaelee Kahler dished out a match-high 19 assists for the Lady Bearcats at St. James.

Hermann posted a 25-19, 25-9 victory in JV action at St. James while their C-Team counterparts also won in straight sets 25-20 and 25-9.

Hosting Union’s Lady Wildcats last Tuesday, Hermann broke up a Union bid for a three-match sweep by taking varsity action in four sets 25-16, 23-25, 25-15 and 27-25.

Hughes and Fredrick shared team-high honors in kills with 12 apiece against the Lady Wildcats.

Ash had a hot hand behind the serving line recording six aces against Union.

Tenley McFadden had the lone block for Hermann against the Lady Wildcats.

Lane led four Lady Bearcat diggers in double digits with 19 digs followed by 13 from Erika Schutt and 12 apiece from Chloe Brune and Hughes.

Kahler called blackjack in the assist department with 21 while Ash added 16 dimes.

Earlier that night, Hermann dropped the JV match in three sets 25-22, 22-25 and 25-17 while the C-team counterparts also fell in three sets 25-17, 24-26 and 15-12 against Union.

Last Monday in Jefferson City against Helias’ Lady Crusaders, Hermann dropped a tough varsity match in four sets 25-11, 25-17, 24-26 and 25-18.

Hughes led the Lady Bearcats with 15 kills to go along with three aces from Landolt.

Hannah Epple, Hughes and McFadden each had a block against Helias.

Adding to her 19 digs against Union, Lane recorded 25 of them against the Lady Crusaders while Kahler dished out 19 assists.

Hermann also dropped the JV (25-16, 25-6) and C-team (25-10, 25-14) matches at Helias.

Ending their regular season Monday night against Borgia, Hermann will open the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 2, District 6 Volleyball Tournament on their home court tomorrow (Thursday) night at 6 p.m., against the winner of last night’s (Tuesday) first-round match between Belle and Bourbon.
