Lucille Welschmeyer 1943-2026

Lucille Bernadine Welschmeyer, 82, Freeburg, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, in the SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.

She was born on Dec.18, 1943, to the late Louis and Catherine (Suthoff) Hoelscher in Jefferson City.

She was united in marriage to Richard Welschmeyer on Aug. 29,1964, in Osage Bend.

During her working life Lucille was employed by the State of Missouri Division of Employment Security as an appeals clerk all while being a devoted housewife and mother.

She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, as well as the Quilting Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, all of Freeburg.

Lucille  enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and spending time making precious memories with her family.

She was preceded in death by parents, Louis and Catherine; infant grandsons, Isaac Pondrom and Jax Johnson; and siblings, Sister Rose Virginia Hoelscher, Clarence Hoelscher, Catherine Bruemmer  and infants, Andrew and Bernard Hoelscher.

Lucille is survived by husband of 62 years, Richard; children, Linda Johnson and husband Eric of Visalia, Calif. and Ann Pondrom and husband Aaron of Dixon; grandchildren, Isabella and Carter Pondrom, Sevee, Rhett, Cort and Sophia Johnson; brother, Irvin Hoelscher of Jefferson City; sister, Dorothy Veit of Jefferson City; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 6:30 p.m. on Sunday Oct.  4, with a Prayer Service following and on Monday Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., all in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg, with Rev. William Debo celebrating.

Inurnment will be held in the Holy Family Cemetery in Freeburg. Memorial contributions suggested to the Holy Family Quilting Club or Holy Family Catholic School Expansion Fund.
