Madness in May

Beginning the month of May with the annual Four Rivers Conference (FRC) track meet Monday, the upcoming month will be full of madness for Owensville High School (OHS) spring sports.

With no home games or meets the rest of this week, the OHS campus will be crowded once again come Monday afternoon.

That is because in addition to the rescheduled Owensville Middle School (OMS) Relays taking place, Senior night and FRC baseball will be occurring at OHS Field between the host Dutchmen and visiting Wildcats to make up a rain out from Thursday, April 28.

In addition to the Dutchmen baseball senior being recognized between the JV and varsity games, Cullen VanLeer’s OHS senior golf team members will also be recognized on the OHS Field turf.

VanLeer’s OHS golfers will also be looking to extend their season by a week following the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 3, District 2 Golf Tournament at Franklin County Country Club.

Senior Eoin Krupp will have a busy Monday starting with an 18-hole round of golf in Franklin County Monday morning before coming back to Owensville to man the shortstop position on the baseball diamond in a crucial FRC showdown against Union’s Wildcats.

Next weekend will mark the beginning of district baseball and girls soccer tournaments throughout the state with OHS Field hosting the MSHSAA Class 4, District 4 Baseball Tournament.

A preview of that tournament can be seen in next week’s Republican.
