Area volunteers including Troop 22 Boy Scouts and Pack 22 Cub Scouts and local fifth-grade Dutchgirl basketball team members pitched in Monday to conduct the first sort of food stocks for the Helping Hands Outreach Center of Gasconade County’s 2023 Operation Christmas campaign. Volunteers needed only an hour to accomplish the task with a final sort and counting of food items scheduled for a 9 a.m. start on Saturday, Dec. 9, at the HHOC facility on Kosark Road. Boxing of food items is scheduled during the day on Wednesday, Dec. 13. Distribution is Friday, Dec. 15, and Saturday, Dec. 16. Volunteers were also wrapping Christmas gifts for area children. All registered gift recipients have been adopted.
