Gasconade County Republicans attending the Central Committee’s annual fall barbecue Friday evening at the St. James Charlotte fellowship hall will have two state-level officials as guest speakers including Lt. Gov. Dave Wasinger and recently appointed Attorney General Catherine Hanaway.
Also scheduled for a presentation is Paige Schulte, the chapter president of the MU chapter of the group Turning Point USA. A pork steak dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with presentations by guest speakers scheduled at 7. Tickets at the door will be $25 per person. Reservations in advance by mail were $20.
Hanaway, who lives in St. Louis with her husband, Chris, was sworn in as Missouri’s 45th Attorney General on Sept. 8. The couple has two children, Lucy and John. She previously served as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri where she tried cases to jury verdicts and led the development of new prosecution strategies in complex healthcare, fraud, and white-collar crime cases. As the chief federal law enforcement officer for the region, she supervised more than 4,000 criminal and civil cases, along with a staff of more than 100 attorneys and investigators.
A seasoned trial lawyer and proven public servant, she has built her career around one guiding principle: protecting Missouri families.
Hanaway first entered public service as a member of the Missouri House of Representatives, where she made history as the first and only woman elected Speaker of the House. She advanced legislation to strengthen public safety, protect Second Amendment rights, and promote government accountability, establishing her reputation as a strong defender of Missourians’ freedoms. Hanaway earned a Bachelor of Arts from Creighton University and received a Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.
On Nov, 5, 2024, Wasinger was elected as Missouri’s 49th Lieutenant Governor.Wasinger was born and raised in Hannibal.
He and his wife, Colleen, have two sons. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Boy Scouts of Greater St. Louis and previously served on the Board of Curators of the University of Missouri, where he was appointed by former Gov. Matt Blunt.
Wasinger attended the University of Missouri-Columbia on a merit-based Curators’ scholarship and graduates with an accounting degree and earned his CPA. He then went on to Vanderbilt University School of Law.
Wasinger later joined a small firm that became Wasinger Daming in Brentwood, Mo., where he specialized in business law.
