OWENSVILLE — Following a tax rate hearing on Aug. 28, the Owensville Board of Aldermen voted to set the city’s tax rate at a lower value than last year.

The new tax rate for the City of Owensville will be 0.7820 cents per $100 assessed valuation, which is down from last year’s rate of 0.8043 cents. The proposed general levy remained the same at 0.3406 cents while the Debt Service decreased from 0.4637 cents to 0.4414 cents. The city’s assessed valuation rose from $41,290,736 in 2022 to $43,299,001 this year.

Projected property tax revenues for the year show an increase despite the lower rate. Last year’s General revenue totaled $139,264 and the Debt Service revenue totaled $191,471 for a total of $330,735. This year’s projected totals are $142,314 for General revenue and $191,123 for Debt Service revenue for $333,437 in total revenue.
