HERMANN — A race has developed for positions on the Board of Directors of the Gasconade County R-1 School District.
Dawn Grosse, the recently retired district social worker, is the fourth candidate for one of the three seats to be filled in the April 7 General Municipal Elections vote.
With one week left in the filing period, Grosse joins a field of hopefuls that includes incumbent Director Amy Grannemann and newcomers Rachel Brinker and Chad Walton.
Filing for the local government positions on the April ballot ends at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30.
Meanwhile, there remains only one candidate for each of the four offices of Hermann city government to be filled in April: Mayor Bruce Cox, who is seeking another term; Ward 1 Alderman Dolores Grannemann, who is thus far unopposed; Ward 2 Alderman Ash Geers, also without a challenger as of Monday morning; and newcomer Vicki Kesler for the city collector’s position. All the offices have 2-year terms.
Rachel Brinker also is a candidate for outright election to the Gasconade County Enhanced-911 Board of Directors. She has been serving out the term of Mike Mueller of Hermann, who held one of the Northern District seats. Mueller earlier this year was named president of the 911 board. That position is an at-large post, meaning its voted on countywide. Mueller will be on the April ballot seeking to be elected to that seat.
In the Southern District, Lisa Thacker, the former longtime executive director of the 911 Program, has filed for the seat being vacated by longtime Director Joyce Baxter.
