Over the last two weeks, area fans of track, golf and baseball have likely been singing the above song over and over again.
That is because a number of high school and middle school spring sporting events involving Owensville have been postponed or canceled.
It began two weeks ago today (Wednesday) with Cullen VanLeer’s Dutchmen golf team seeing their Four Rivers Conference (FRC) dual meet with the host Tigers at St. James Golf Course postponed due to inclement weather and unplayable course conditions.
This meet has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 19 in St. James.
Also postponed that Wednesday was a freshman baseball game between the host St. James Tigers and visiting Owensville Dutchmen freshman at Nelson Hart Park.
A reschedule date remains yet to be determined as of press time.
Owensville Middle School track was next to fall victim to Mother Nature as their scheduled track meet in Bourbon from Thursday, March 31 was also canceled.
That meet will not be made up.
Dutchmen freshman baseball also saw their scheduled home game against Waynesville from that day also postponed.
Weather and field conditions permitted, Andy Loague’s Dutchmen are scheduled to make up the Waynesville game today (Wednesday) at 4:30 p.m., at OHS Field.
Rain and unseasonably cold weather robbed Matt Candrl’s OHS Track team of a meet last Thursday when April 7 action at Montgomery County was canceled.
Overnight rain Sunday caused three Monday OHS sporting events to be postponed.
The first was Dutchmen golf’s scheduled FRC tri-meet with St. Clair and Union and that rescheduled two other times.
It will now be made up as part of the annual FRC Tournament on Monday, April 25 at Meramac Lakes Golf Course located south of St. Clair.
Dutchmen baseball also saw their Monday contests postponed due to inclement weather and wet field conditions.
Tyler Ahring’s varsity Dutchmen will have to wait another day to face St. James’ Tigers in Phelps County in addition to Loague’s freshman Dutchmen taking on Pacific’s Indians at OHS Field.
Both contests were postponed due to inclement weather and wet field conditions.
Neither of those games had a reschedule date as of press time.
