Richard Wayne Davis, 72, Macon, passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2020, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
He was born March 15, 1948, to Clance Wilson and Almeta Laverne (Farmer) Davis, in Bonne Terre.
He was united in marriage to Rita Annette Parks, Aug. 12, 1972, in Kansas City.
Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded a Purple Heart. He retired from the State of Missouri Veterans Commission and was a member of First Baptist Church in Macon, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans and Quail Unlimited.
Following retirement, Richard enjoyed working in education with students with special needs, camping, hunting, raising beagles, preparing for triathlons, going on cruises with Rita and spending time with their grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Clance and Almeta; and brothers, Winford and Ted.
He is survived by wife, Rita; daughters, Amber King and husband Nate of Salisbury and Arla Fanning and husband Dustin of Moberly; grandchildren, Alicia, Jackson, Ayla, Hunter, Asa, Kyler and Asher; brother, Tom Davis and wife Sandie of Owensville; sister, Patty Smith and husband Don of Marthasville; and other extended family, in-laws and friends.
Memorial services were Monday, Dec. 7, at First Baptist Church in Macon. Internment, with full military honors, was in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. Memorial contributions suggested to Advocates for Community Choice, P.O. Box 183, Washington, MO 63090.
