The city of Bland has the mayor and three aldermen positions available in the April 2019 election/.
The mayor’s seat, which is currently occupied by the recent appointment of Ron Shafferkoetter, has a one-year unexpired portion of a term remaining.
The 2017 seat of former alderman Rodney Lexa is currently occupied by an appointment. Alderman Gary Lee was appointed to Lexa’s unexpired term and that seat is now up for election for a two-year period.
Alderman Sherry Spradling was appointed to former alderman Jim Carpenter’s seat — which is also up for election for a new two-year term. Shafferkoetter declared his intentions to run for mayor early Tuesday morning. Filing opened Tuesday and ends Jan. 15, 2019.
