Recording their second straight season with double-digits wins after finishing 15-11 this fall, Chris Leibach’s Hermann Lady Bearcat softball team had six players earn postseason honors from the coaches of the Four Rivers Conference (FRC) and the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 2, District 2 Softball Tournament.
Sophomore pitcher Taylor Carver and junior infielder Delilah Nobel were both 1st Team selections at the conference and district levels.
Senior Kimber Hale and junior Harper Preiss were selected to the All-FRC and All-District 2nd Teams.
Sophomore Alivia Witthaus and freshman Coraline Nobel also earned All-FRC 2nd Team nods.
Pitching a team-high 75 and two-thirds innings, Carver struck out 115 batters achieving double-digit strikeouts in four games.
Striking out a season-high 13 batters against Mark Twain, Carver also posted double-digit strikeout games against South Callaway (12), St. Clair (11) and Union (11).
At the plate, Carver posted a .451 batting average tying her for third on the team with Hale while she led the Lady Bearcats with a 1.451 OPS (on-base plus slugging), .923 slugging percentage, 41 hits, 14 doubles, four triples, seven home runs and 46 runs batted in (RBI).
Her four triples were tied for the team lead with Delilah Nobel.
Among her team-leading 41 hits, Carver had three hits in eight games against St. Clair, Maplewood-Richmond Heights (MRH), Van-Far, Pacific, Cuba, St Pius X (Festus), St. James and the St. Louis Patriots.
Of her 14 doubles, she had a pair of them in two showdowns against St. James.
She recorded half of her team-leading four triples against the St. Louis Patriots while homering against St. Clair, Mark Twain, Van-Far, Cuba and SPX.
Drawing 13 walks good for third on the team, Carver earned three free passes against St. Clair, St. James and Mark Twain.
In the RBI department, Carver went for five of them twice in games against St. James and SPX while also scoring five runs against St. James.
Sullivan’s Mia Pridemore joined Carver among All-FRC 1st Team Pitchers while fellow All-District 1st Team Pitchers along with Carver were Montgomery County junior Reese Hill and North Callaway junior Megan Schmidt.
Delilah Nobel led the Lady Bearcats with 46 hits, 51 runs scored and 21 stolen bases.
She was also second on the team with a .484 batting average, .811 slugging percentage, 1.353 OPS, 27 singles, 11 doubles, 40 RBIs and four home runs.
Nobel recorded a season-high four hits against Wellsville-Middletown (W-M), six RBIs against Cuba, five runs scored and four walks against St. James.
In both meetings against St. James, Nobel also stole three bases.
Joining Nobel on the All-FRC 1st Team Infield were McKenna Lay (Pacific), Raeann Corwin (Sullivan), Alexa Lause (Union) and Emma Wallis (Union).
1st Team All-District Infielders alongside Nobel were Kymorie Myers (North Callaway), Katie Brinkman (Elsberry), Sam Turner (Montgomery County), Mattie Chandler (Louisiana), Zoie Foster (Elsberry) and Olivia Knoepflein (North Callaway).
Closing her Lady Bearcat softball career with All-FRC and All-District 2nd Team honors, Hale led Hermann with 18 walks while also placing second on the team with 37 runs scored and 17 stolen bases.
Third on the team with 37 hits, Hale had a pair of four-hit games against Owensville and MRH.
Drawing three of her team-leading 17 walks against St. James, Hale also had three stolen bases in action against St. Clair and Montgomery County.
She also scored three runs against St. Clair, MRH, W-M and St. James twice.
Also seeing time in the pitching circle, Hale pitched 40 and two-thirds innings with 43 strikeouts.
Among those, Hale struck out nine batters in games against Lutheran St. Charles and Mark Twain.
Coraline Nobel was fifth on the team with seven doubles and 11 stolen bases.
Of her 11 stolen bases, she swiped two bags in games against St. Clair, Mark Twain and W-M.
Among her seven doubles, she had two of them against St. James to go along with four RBIs.
Nobel was also sixth for Hermann with a .398 slugging percentage, 19 singles and 15 RBIs.
Priess led the Lady Bearcats with a .493 batting average, .598 on-base percentage and 32 singles.
She also drew 16 walks which was good for second on the team.
Of those 32 singles, she had four of them against MRH.
Scoring three runs in games against St. James, MRH and W-M, Priess also walked three times and stole four bases against St. James.
Rounding out Hermann’s quartet of All-FRC 2nd Team softball players, Witthaus was tied for second in doubles with 11 alongside Delilah Nobel.
She was also fifth on the team in batting average (.375), slugging percentage (.500), hits (33) and runs scored (25).
Recording three hits in games against St. Clair, MRH, W-M, Cuba and St. James, she also three doubles in Highway 19 softball action against Cuba.
All-District 2nd Team members along with Hale and Priess included Mackenzie Burk (Elsberry), Lilly Mound (Elsberry), Jordan Boehlein (Louisiana), Madi Jenkins (Louisiana), Georgia Powell (Louisiana), Reece Wommack (Louisiana), Jillian Weekley (Montgomery County) and Sophia Olsson (North Callaway).
Fellow FRC softball players earning second-team nods included Hannah Keeney (Owensville), Kabren Kelley (Owensville), Dallas Miller (Owensville), Makayla Swinford (Pacific), Alyssa Jesionowski (St. Clair), Kirrah Drennan (St. James), Lillian Snelson (St. James), Evelynn Harris (Sullivan), Cali Koppelmann-Blue (Sullivan), Kennedi Roach (Sullivan) and Evvie Poggas (Union).
Owensville ended up being the last FRC softball team standing before falling to Blair Oaks in the MSHSAA Class 3, District 2 championship game.
Montgomery County wound up winning the Class 2, District 2 Tournament before advancing to the MSHSAA Class 2 Softball Championships in Springfield settling for fourth place after a 6-0 loss to Mid-Buchanan in the third-place game.
