For the nine Owensville High School (OHS) wrestlers that qualified for the 2024 Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Wrestling Championships starting today at Columbia’s Mizzou Arena, they will be seeking a top-six finish in their respective weight classes giving them All-State honors.

First-round action for Zach Bollmann’s four Owensville Dutchgirl wrestling state qualifiers will begin at 1:15 p.m., today in Columbia.

At 115 pounds, Dutchgirl junior Elizabeth Adams (41-14) will begin her quest for the medal stand in first-round action against Lathrop senior Ali Gonzalez (31-12).

Depending upon the outcome of that match, Adams will either get a third shot at Mexico’s Katherine Bowen or a second crack at Holden’s Macey Greene.

Adams has split two previous showdowns with Bowen while she would be looking to potentially avenge a loss to Greene from the third-place match at the Lady Thundering Herd Tournament in Buffalo.

Freshman Rylee Dare (22-15) will be next for the Dutchgirls on the mat at 155 pounds in MSHSAA Class 1 girls wrestling.

Dare has a lofty task ahead of her going up against Centralia freshman Jacyi Shelton who will enter the state tournament with a 38-0 record.

Awaiting Dare in her second match today will either be Lafayette County’s Lorelei Weaver or Marshfield’s Trinity Leeser.

Making her third trip to state is Rylee’s older sister Bailee Dare who sits at 38-7 looking to end her junior season with another state medal.

Bailee’s first-round opponent at 170 pounds will be Gallatin junior Abigail Parker.

Dare could possibly get a shot at revenge against Palmyra’s Ellyse Lorenson in the quarterfinals looking to avenge a loss in the championship match of the Seckman Tournament at 170 pounds against the Lady Panther junior.

Rounding out Owensville’s quartet of Dutchgirl state wrestling qualifiers is junior Madison Lewis who will come into Columbia with a 32-16 record at 190 pounds.

Lewis will face McDonald County senior Gisel Aragon (28-10) in first-round action with her next opponent either being Plattsburg junior Kenlee Fish or STEAM Academy at McCluer South-Berkeley senior Latahvia Williams.

They will wrestle the championship first round, quarterfinals and two rounds of wrestlebacks today before concluding the tournament tomorrow (Thursday).

Dustin Howard’s five Dutchmen state wrestling qualifiers and their Class 2 boys counterparts will get their turns on the mats starting at 6 p.m., tonight.

Freshman Micah Duncan (25-15) will get a shot at revenge right out of the gate at 113 pounds.

Matched up against Osage senior Zachary Green (31-4), Duncan will look to avenge a loss to the Indian grappler from a tri-meet in late January.

Duncan’s next opponent will either by Kirksville junior Jaden Crisp or Richmond junior Daxton McGinnis.

Coming off a district championship at 126 pounds over the weekend in Sullivan, Dutchmen sophomore Steven Buddemeyer (38-9) will face Excelsior Springs senior Micah Danner (28-9).

In his next match, Buddemeyer will either face Southern Boone’s Blaine Bergthold or have a chance to avenge a loss to Blair Oaks junior Carter Kempker from back during the Sam Richardson Duals Tournament in Moberly back in mid-December.

One of two seniors that will be closing his OHS wrestling career during the state tournament is senior Kaleb Wells at 165 pounds.

Entering state with a 24-8 record, Wells’ first-round opponent will be Benton junior Kaden Lee.

Wells’ second match will either be against Cassville sophomore Colton Roark or Mexico sophomore Isai Hernandez-Jarduin.

Overcoming a shoulder injury that sidelined him during his sophomore season on the mats, junior Landon Kramme captured a district title over the weekend in Sullivan at 175 pounds in the MSHSAA Class 2, District 1 Tournament.

Currently sitting at 22-6, Kramme’s first-round opponent will be Mexico sophomore Grant Walker.

Kramme’s next opponent will either be Seneca’s Sawyer Cornell or a shot at revenge against Chillicothe’s Cayden Larson for a loss to the Hornet senior during the Cameron Duals Tournament in early January.

Rounding out Owensville’s quintet of Dutchmen state wrestling qualifiers is 285-pound senior Hayden Shoemaker (33-8).

A chance at revenge will greet Shoemaker is his first-round match against Nevada sophomore DJ Glidewell.

Losing a 10-1 major decision to Glidewell in the Thundering Herd Tournament semifinals, the OHS senior will look to avenge that loss before facing either Mexico senior Emile Scanavino or Benton senior David Peters.
