OSAGE COUNTY — Jarrod Compton, 45, who was shot Feb. 13, died from his injuries at 10:11 p.m. Feb. 16. An autopsy is scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 18, with Osage County Sheriff Michael Bonham and Detective Dennis Sutton in attendance.

Compton was shot at a trailer on Osage County Road 703. The Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting north of Belle around 4:30 p.m. Feb. 13. Deputies secured the scene and located Compton with a single gunshot wound. He was airlifted to University Hospital.

A person of interest was identified at the scene and taken in for questioning. The person’s name has not been officially released.

Authorities said the incident was isolated, involving two individuals known to each other, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The case remains under investigation in coordination with the Osage County Prosecutor’s Office. Bonham said the investigation is complex and involves extensive evidence review, adding that his office is working closely with Prosecutor Amanda Grellner.
