Shane T. Valley of Owensville was charged Feb. 3 with the class A misdemeanor of second degree property damage against a law enforcement officer and the class B misdemeanor of misusing 911.
The Owensville Police Department (OPD) claimed in their probable cause statement that the charges arose from a report received Aug. 8, 2025.
In the report, Valley is accused of calling 911 four times and being verbally abusive to operators. OPD states that after making contact with Valley, he became verbally abusive and threatened physical harm to the OPD officer who was “clearly identifiable as a police officer.” OPD reported Valley as saying he wanted to go to jail and did not want to be released.
They further reported Valley as being on probation and parole for the charge of assault in the third degree, special victim, for causing injury to a Sullivan Police Officer during an arrest.
OPD requested a warrant be issued due to “his criminal history, his threats of future violence toward law enforcement, and his stated intent to commit further crimes until incarcerated.”
A criminal summons was issued with the initial appearance scheduled for Feb. 25 at 9 a.m. with Judge Ada Brehe-Krueger presiding.
