A Washington motorcyclists died Saturday evening and his passenger was seriously injured when their 2007 Kawasaki struck a deer crossing U.S. 50 a half mile east of Cave Hill Road.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the man, 66, and woman, 51, were traveling east on U.S. 50 when their motorcycle struck a deer which had entered the roadway. The motorcycle when off the road and down a steep embankment, according to a report from the Owensville Fire Department which responded to the scene of the incident reported at 5:15 p.m. Nov. 15.
The driver was pronounced dead at Mercy Washington at 7:43 p.m. after being airlifted by Life Flight. The female passenger was transported to Mercy Washington. Both were wearing helmets, according to the MSHP report by Trooper J.R. Wilson. 4J’s Towing removed the motorcycle from the scene.
A 23-year-old Rosebud man received moderate injuries in a rear-ender crash reported at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 on Highway 28 at Loeb Road.
According to the MSHP report, the Rosebud man was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze west when he failed to stop as another motorist was attempting to make a left-hand turn off of 28 onto Loeb Road. The man’s Cruze struck the rear end of a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The driver of the truck, a56-year-old Bourbon woman, was not injured. The Rosebud man was transported by Owensville Area Ambulance District personnel to Mercy Washington for treatment.
Triple L Towing removed the Cruze from the scene and Chris and Sons Towing removed the truck. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
The MSHP reports three arrests this past week in Osage County.
Eugene R. Bunch, 52, Linn, was arrested and released at 11:45 a.m. Nov. 13 on allegations of driving while revoked or suspended for a second or third offense.
Jeremy L. Bartlett, 35, Linn, was arrested at 3:40 p.m. Nov. 13 of allegations of driving while suspended as a second offense. He was transported to the Osage County Jail in Linn and later released.
Robert W. Wallenmeyer, 35, Linn, was arrested at 2:16 p.m. Nov. 15 on allegations of driving while suspended, operating a motor vehicle without a valid motorcycle endorsement. He was transported to the county jail in Linn on the bondable offenses.
