What are you thankful for this week?

Posted

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale was a minister, an author and provided a lot of inspiration to us a few years ago.

Peale taught us: “the more you practice the art of thankfulness, the more you have to be thankful for. This, of course, is a fact. Thankfulness does tend to reproduce in kind.”

Larry Fleet wrote a country song whose thankful message hits just right.

Here is a sample from the lyrics:

From a bar stool to that Evinrude

Sunday mornin’ in a church pew

In a deer stand or a hay field

An interstate back to Nashville

In a Chevrolet with the windows down

Me and Him just ridin’ around

Sometimes, whether I’m lookin’ for Him or not

That’s where I find God

Sometimes late at night, I lie there and listen

To the sound of her heart beatin’ and that song the crickets are singin’

And I don’t know what they’re sayin’

But it sounds like a hymn to me

No, I ain’t too good at prayin’

But thanks for everything

Larry performs this song with Morgan Wallin. It’s worth a listen.

I am thankful that you and I are free to worship God as we choose. We are not forced to worship a state sanctioned god nor denied the right to worship.

Our American Bill of Rights seems to be constantly under attack, yet our freedom to worship remains intact. Our free speech remains intact. Our right to arm ourselves so we can protect our families and assets remains largely intact.

The Bill of Rights and our freedom have survived because every attack was met with Americans standing up, and saying “Not on my watch.”

I am thankful for each of you who picked up the torch of liberty some time this year and made an effort to preserve our freedom here in Missouri.

I am thankful for you, the readers of Liberty Thought of the Week.

I am thankful I woke up one more day with the opportunity to try to make the world a better place.

Happy Thanksgiving.
