Witches return, raise $1K

For the first time since 2019, Witches Night Out made an appearance, creating a successful evening under new leadership.

Event organizer Melanie Behrens, along with Toni Whiteside and Jessica Warden were the trio who led the Oct. 25 event.

“It went very well,” Behrens said. “We probably had around 300 people who attended and we raised over $1,000.”

All proceeds from the event, including the $5 entry donation, will be given to Helping Hands and Shop with a Cop.

“We had around 35 vendors and 24 local businesses sponsor us,” Behrens said. “All of the feedback we’ve had so far has been positive.”

While the trio of witches plan to make a few changes to the event for next year, they are pleased with their first time organizing the annual witching night. “There are things we’re planning to change for next year, but over all it was great for our first year back,” Behrens said.

Witches and businesses were enthusiastic about the return of the event.

Former organizers Judy Morris and Nancy Gann supported the new organizers with open doors and participated in a Bingo card game to encourage visitors to shop downtown.

Awards were distributed after a witchy parade closed out the event. Warm, comfortable weather prevailed throughout the event.
