Bland area resident Ashley Workman has been charged with the class D felony of first degree endangering the welfare of a child following the execution of a warrant at her residence and property by the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) on Wednesday, May 13.
According to the probable cause statement by MSHP, an investigation was conducted following her 16-year-old child’s public social media display of firearms and marijuana.
MSHP reports locating marijuana, an unknown liquid labeled “mushroom extract,” open alcohol containers and a .22 caliber rifle with ammunition near a sleeping area occupied by the juvenile in the primary residence of the property.
Allegedly located in the bedroom of the “rundown guest house” on the property, in which Workman reportedly told the MSHP the juvenile stays by himself, were a bag containing marijuana, multiple containers of psilocybin mushrooms, a spoon that tested positive for methamphetamine, unopened alcohol containers and a .30-06 rifle with ammunition.
According to the officer, Workman appeared to be creating a substantial risk to the life, body and health of her juvenile son by not giving parental supervision and allowing him to access marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, alcohol and firearms.
The officer stated it was “apparent” the teenager was unsupervised, exposed to methamphetamine use and had engaged in multiple events of delinquency which posed a significant risk to their health and safety.
Workman was taken into custody at approximately 8:20 a.m. and transported to the Osage County Jail where she was placed on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety and she was released the same day.
