Jana Rue Weigel of the 100 block of Cedar Lane in Owensville was charged with the class D felony of second degree domestic assault and the unclassified felony armed criminal action Saturday following a reported incident handled by the Owensville Police Department (OPD).
OPD reports being dispatched in reference to a physical domestic disturbance in progress and upon arrival speaking to Weigel. According to the probable cause statement, Weigel stated her and her husband were arguing when he grabbed her from behind and was holding on to her and she managed to get away from him.
The officer stated that Weigel’s husband, with scratches on his chest and stomach and puncture wounds on his left arm and right leg, advised that Weigel stabbed him with what he thought was a file. OPD further reported that they were informed that the argument began because Weigel had gone out with another man the night before, leading to the argument, when he attempted to restrain her from assaulting him and was stabbed in the process.
OPD advised in the report that the couple’s daughter corroborated the story stating Weigel grabbed something from the kitchen and stabbed the alleged victim. EMS reportedly stated that the puncture wounds would need stitches.
A warrant was served on Weigel Monday with bond set at $25,000. She is currently in custody at Osage County Jail. Arraignment has been scheduled for today (Wednesday) at 9 a.m. in Gasconade County Division IV before Judge Ada Brehe-Krueger.
