An Owensville woman with prior theft and burglary convictions was caught inside a rental home in the 500 block of West Madison on March 8.
She faces new charges after she told police she should have waited until it was dark to go in the house so she would not get caught. Owensville patrolman Quinton D. Strubberg responded to the residence at 6:11 p.m. March 8 and was told by a female resident that a woman was in the upper level of the wood-frame home. Strubberg entered the home and ordered the woman to come downstairs.
Strubberg reported locating a backpack and a purse which belonged to the resident in the possession of the female suspect, who turned 29 last week. The suspect is on parole for after pleading guilty to felony burglary and theft in July 2016 which resulted in a suspended execution of sentence with a four-year prison term. She received a 60-day jail term for a November 2017 guilty plea to misdemeanor theft. The felony conviction included a 120-day shock incarceration in state prison which was completed in January 2018.
The suspect, of Sullivan, was not identified pending the filing of formal charges.
City Marshal Robert Rickerd said a final report was being forwarded to the prosecuting attorney.
