The Gerald Board of Aldermen opened their meeting Thursday, May 21, taking care of routine and unfinished business. This included reading into the record the official election returns as certified by the Franklin County Director of Elections.
The meeting was then adjourned Sine Die. The meeting resumed with the City Clerk administering the oath of office to Ward 1 Alderman Rudy Via, Ward 2 Aldernen Cary Parker and Dean Isgrigg and Mayor Corey Novotney. The new board then convened to work on new business.
Novotney proposed the following appointments: Board of Aldermen President–Cary Parker, City Clerk–Shelley Smythe, Public Works Director– Nick Grube (who also serves as City Administrator),and Chief of Police‑Jim Helton. Aldermen Via and Isgrigg were appointed to the Police Department committee and Ward 1 Alderman Kyle Guerrant and Isgrigg were appointed to the Public Works department committee. Parker was appointed as the board representative to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
