Reeling from a 48-12 road loss at Union the previous Friday, Nathan Cabot’s Owensville Dutchmen looked to secure a first-round home game in districts with a win Friday night over Sullivan’s Eagles.
Seeing Sullivan start all of their first-half drives on Owensville’s half of the field, the host Dutchmen could not contain Sullivan in the trenches before dropping a 52-0 decision at Dutchmen Field.
Limited to -20 yards rushing against a stingy Sullivan defensive line, Trevor Abernathy and Seth Scheidegger led Owensville on the ground with five yards rushing apiece.
Brendan Decker was 8-18 passing for 72 yards and an interception with three of those completions going to Derek Brandt for 59 receiving yards.
Freshman quarterback Bryce Payne completed his first varsity pass in the fourth quarter on an 11-yard pass play to senior Cason Gray.
On the defensive side of the ball for Owensville, TC Fisher and Blaine Reed both recovered fumbles while Fisher recorded 10 total tackles to lead all OHS tacklers.
Garret West added eight total tackles followed closely by Brandt with seven to go along with six each from Cody Linders, Michael Miles and Scheidegger.
OHS will host St. Clair Friday night for senior night with a 7 p.m., kickoff.
