Spending the first few weeks of their season at golf courses throughout the area, Nathan Cabot’s Owensville High School golf team finally got to play a round on the friendly confines of Owensville Golf Course (OGC) Monday afternoon.

Hosting Hermann in a Four Rivers Conference (FRC) dual meet, OHS carded a team score of 216 behind Hermann’s team score of 186.

Blaine Reed showed the way for OHS golf carding a nine-hole round of 48.

“Blaine (Reed) really turned in a heck of his performance with his 48,” Cabot said.

Hunter Hutchison followed closely behind with a nine-hole round of 42.

“Hunter (Hutchison) had a good showing shooting par on holes one and two along with bogeys on holes eight and nine,” Cabot said.

Gage Barnett and Alexis Snodgrass both fired rounds of 58 for Owensville’s young golf team.

“Alexis (Snodgrass) continues to develop as a first-time golfer and she has some great potential as she learns the game and makes adjustments,” Cabot said. “ Gage (Barnett) battled some ups and downs today. He will rebound and be ready for the next match.”

Tanner Brown rounded out Owensville’s varsity contingency shooting a nine-hole round of 60.

“Tanner (Brown) also battled some ups and down but we’re working on some of his mechanics,” Cabot said. “As he sorts through those, we will really see an improvement in his game.”

Eli Waters (56) and Logan Tiefenbrunn (57) also played as junior varsity golfers for Owensville.

“Logan and Eli played some of their better golf today shooting a season best,” Cabot said.

Hermann’s Thomas Henson earned top honors individually carding a two-over par round of 34.

Brendan Leibach (49), Allyson Hollrah (51) and Woody Heldt (52) also posted nine-hole rounds for Hermann’s varsity golf team.

A pair of tournaments await OHS golf the rest of this week in the St. James Tiger Classic today (Wednesday) and the Sullivan Tournament on Friday.

OHS golf will host their final home match of the season at OGC against Pacific on Wednesday, April 17 with a 4 p.m., tee time.
