HERMANN – The general elections candidates for the local Missouri Senate and House of Representatives seats are scheduled to field questions at a forum at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8 at Hermann’s Showboat Theater on 4th Street.
According to the announcement issued by Showboat Theater Fundraising Director Chad Walton, invitations to take part in the forum were extended to the candidates for Missouri’s 3rd District U.S. House of Representatives seat, the Missouri Senate’s 26th District and the Missouri House’s 61st District. The only confirmations received as of the afternoon of Sunday, Oct. 4 were from State Sen. Ben Brown, the Republican incumbent for the 26th district, and Democrat challenger Victoria (Vicky) Wors. Also confirmed to attend are State Rep. Bruce Sassmann, the incumbent Republican for the 61st district, and Democrat challenger Stacy Bax.
“Our goal is to give members of the community an opportunity to hear directly from the people asking to represent them,” forum organizers said. “This about presenting a welcoming, non-partisan setting where voters can become better informed before heading to the polls.”
Topics expected to be discussed include public education issues, matters of rural health care and the impact of data centers being developed in the area, among others.
The General Elections are on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
