Opening 2021 with three tough road games, Ryan Flanagan’s Owensville Dutchgirls returned home last week looking to get back on the winning track.

Snapping a four-game losing streak last Tuesday with a win over Salem, OHS picked up another home game two nights later on Thursday against Fort Zumwalt West’s Lady Jaguars.

Trailing 13-6 after one quarter, Owensville outscored Fort Zumwalt West (FZW) 44-28 the rest of the game to go on and post a 50-41 victory giving them a pair of wins on their home court last week.

In the aforementioned first quarter, Kyla Hendrix led the Dutchgirls with four points while Anna Finley accounted for the other two.

Holding the Lady Jaguars to three second-quarter points, Owensville put 18 on the board to close the first half and go into halftime with a 24-16 lead.

Six different Dutchgirls registered points in the second quarter led by Finley with six points giving her eight first-half points to lead all scorers.

Kate Angell and Anna Skornia each registered three points in the second quarter while the trio of Emma Daniels, Katelyn Landolt and Kyla Hendrix each added two points.

Edging FZW 13-11 in the third quarter, Owensville went into the fourth quarter with a double-digit lead over the Lady Jaguars 37-27.

Of their 13 points, 12 came from beyond the 3-point line with Daniels and Landolt each hitting a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter.

In spite of being outscored 14-13 in the fourth quarter, OHS held on for the victory over the Lady Jaguars.

Putting up a baker’s dozen in the second half, Daniels led the Dutchgirls with a team-high 15 points.

Also dealing most of her damage in the second half, Landolt just missed double figures finishing with nine points.

Scoring all eight of her points in the first half, Finley also finished with eight assists, five rebounds and five steals.

Kyla Hendrix also added eight points netting six of those in the first half.

Keira Hendrix finished with four points and seven rebounds.

Angell and Skornia rounded out the Dutchgirl scoring against the Lady Jaguars with three points each.

Two nights earlier against Salem, Owensville blitzed the Lady Tigers 37-8 in the second half to post a 69-32 victory snapping a four-game losing streak dating back to early December.

Accounting for 50 of the 69 Dutchgirl points, Daniels led all scorers with 26 points followed closely with 24 points from Finley.

Finley also flirted with a quadruple double adding 13 rebounds, six assists and six steals to her 24 points.

Angell chipped in five points with Landolt adding three markers.

Landry Watson and Skornia each finished with two points rounding out the Dutchgirl scoring against Salem.

Also looking for their first win of 2021, Terra Heidle’s Owensville JV Dutchgirls took on Salem.

Jumping out to a 22-8 halftime lead, Heidle’s JV Dutchgirls snapped a three-game losing streak with a 37-22 victory over Salem’s JV Lady Tigers.

Scoring seven first-half points, Anya Binkhoelter led the Dutchgirls and all scorers with 11 points.

Adding six points apiece for the JV Dutchgirls were Ella Gehlert, Audrey Quilacio and McKenna Edwards.

McKenzy Echols scored all four of her points in the fourth quarter while Grace Abell hit a third-quarter 3-pointer for three points.
