Winning a Four Rivers Conference (FRC) title for the first time in six years, Owensville Dutchgirl basketball came out smelling like roses after voting concluded deciding All-FRC basketball teams.

Dutchgirl head basketball coach Ryan Flanagan was named the FRC Coach of the Year while senior guard Anna Finley was selected the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the conference.

Joining Finley on the All-FRC First Team was sophomore guard Emma Daniels.

Also named to the All-FRC Second Team from the orange and black were senior Kyla Hendrix and freshman Camryn Caldwell.

Reaching double figures in scoring in all but one game, Finley achieved a season-high 26 points in a 64-56 win over Timberland (Wentzville) back in early December.

Finley led the Dutchgirls in scoring (17.1 points), rebounding (5.5 boards), assists (4.0 assists) and steals (2.9 steals) for Owensville.

Additionally against Timberland, Finley pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds. She also dished out a season-high six assists four times in games against St. Francis Borgia, Hermann, Sullivan and Salem.

Also against Hermann, Finley recorded a season-best seven steals.

Good for 12 points a game as a sophomore, Daniels reached double figures in 17 of the 26 games she played in.

Her season high came with 23 points against New Haven in a 60-13 victory that clinched a share of the FRC title back on Feb. 18.

Averaging nearly four boards, three assists and three steals a game, Daniels made it a double double against New Haven pulling down a season-high 10 rebounds.

Daniels dished out a season-high six assists against Pacific while she amassed five steals on six occasions in games against Nerinx Hall, Fatima, Liberty Christian Academy, Hermann, New Haven and Salem.

Nearly single-handedly bringing the Dutchgirls back from a 19-point fourth-quarter deficit, Hendrix finished her senior season averaging 7.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game.

Scoring in double figures during eight games, Hendrix achieved her season-high of 20 points against St. James in the championship game of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 4, District 3 Girls Basketball Tournament that was played at Sullivan High School.

On the glass, Hendrix pulled down a season-high seven rebounds twice in games against Battle (Columbia) and Sullivan.

Hendrix’s season-best in assists came during the district semifinals when she dished out six dimes against Salem.

Helping the Dutchgirls to their first FRC title in six years, Hendrix recorded a season-high four steals in their conference-clinching victory at Sullivan.

Missing a month of her freshman season with a hand injury, Caldwell came back with a fury helping the Dutchgirls by averaging 6.8 points, two steals, 1.6 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game.

Reaching double-digit scoring in six games, Caldwell scored a season and career-high 19 points against the Marquette Lady Mustangs in the semifinals of the Marquette Tournament in early December.

Enjoying a defensive season opener, Caldwell recorded a season-best six steals against St. Francis Borgia’s Lady Knights.

Also helping the Dutchgirls win back-to-back Hermann Tournament titles, Caldwell pulled down a season-high five rebounds against Battle in the tournament title game at Hermann.

Playing Hickman (Columbia) who was two classes larger than Owensville, Caldwell had her best game passing the ball recording a season-high seven assists.

Finley and Daniels were also named to the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) Class 4, District 3 All-District Team.

Finley was voted the top player in the tournament to go along with her FRC Player of the Year honor.

Cullen VanLeer’s Owensville Dutchmen also saw a trio of players end up with postseason honors once their basketball season came to an end after a loss to St. James in the district semifinals.

Following voting amongst FRC coaches, a pair of Dutchmen juniors earned recognition with Bryce Payne garnering an All-FRC First Team selection and junior guard Will Lauth picking up a second-team nod.

Second on the team in scoring at 9.2 points a game, Payne reached double digits in 10 games achieving a season-high 19 points against Cuba in the opening round of the MSHSAA Class 4, District 3 Boys Basketball Tournament at Sullivan.

Good for a team leading 5.9 rebounds per game, Payne reached double digits on the glass in four games including pulling down a season-high 14 boards against Pacific in their regular-season showdown.

In the assist department, Payne dished out three of them on three occasions in games against Fort Zumwalt North, Capital City and St. James in the district semifinals.

Defensively, Payne saved his best for last recording a season-high three steals in the district semifinals against St. James.

Lauth averaged right at nine points per game just behind Payne reaching double digits in 11 games.

Lauth’s season-high came in mid-December against Linn with 21 points.

Pulling down nearly three rebounds a game, Lauth grabbed a season-high five rebounds three times in games against St. Clair, Steelville and Union.

Like Payne, Lauth also dished out a season-high three assists twice in back-to-back games against Eugene and Pacific.

While Payne was also selected to the MBCA Class 4, District 3 All-District Team, Dutchmen senior guard Brendan Decker joined him earning the fourth-most votes among the top 10 players in the tournament.

Decker led the Dutchmen in scoring averaging 10.3 points per contest to go along with a team-leading two steals per game.

Reaching double-digit scoring in 12 games, Decker dropped a season-high 25 points on Capital City back in late January.

Averaging just over five rebounds per game, Decker reached double figures on the glass twice grabbing 12 boards against Salem and 10 rebounds against Eugene.

Decker also dished out a season-high four assists against Eugene.

Seven was a lucky number in the steal department as he reached that number twice during his senior season in games against Pacific and Fort Scott (Kansas).
