OWENSVILLE — Community members and Missouri Rock Island Trail State Park enthusiasts are invited to celebrate National Trails Day with a free fun run/walk on Saturday, April 25, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in Owensville.
The event will take place at 107 W. Sears Avenue and is open to participants of all ages and fitness levels. Whether you’re an avid runner, a casual walker, or simply looking to enjoy the outdoors, this event offers a fun and welcoming way to experience the growing Rock Island Trail corridor, according to Friends of Rock Island Trail State Park (FoRIT).
This community event is hosted in partnership with Owensville Parks & Recreation and FoRIT. The event highlights the importance of trails in promoting healthy lifestyles, community connections, and outdoor recreation.
Participants can expect:
•A relaxed, family-friendly run/walk atmosphere
• Access to the scenic Rock Island Trail corridor
• Free water and snacks provided
In addition to the morning run/walk, Owensville will host a full day of community activities, making April 25 a destination event for residents and visitors alike. Additional highlights include:
• Gasconade Timing Association’s Springfest car show downtown featuring classic and custom vehicles.
• Market in the Park swap meet in Memorial Park offering local goods and unique finds.
• A special dedication of the iconic horseshoe at City Hall, celebrating Owensville’s heritage and community pride.
National Trails Day is celebrated across the country to encourage people to discover and enjoy local trail systems. Owensville’s event is part of a broader effort to promote the development and use of the Rock Island Trail State Park, which continues to connect communities across Missouri.
“This is a great opportunity for residents and visitors to experience the trail, get active, and enjoy everything Owensville has to offer in one day,” organizers said.
