Just win baby.

That was the mentality Thursday afternoon for Kyle Bollmann’s Owensville JV Dutchmen baseball team entering their home showdown with St. Clair’s Bulldogs.

Trailing 1-0 and 3-2 early the game, Owensville scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning helping the orange and black pull away from the JV Bulldogs for an 11-6 victory giving the JV Dutchmen their first win of the spring.

Down 1-0 entering the bottom of the first inning, Logan Bailey walked and scored before Zaiden Gates also walked and scored on an Owen Binkhoelter RBI single giving OHS a 2-1 lead.

St. Clair retook the lead with two runs in the top of the second inning before the JV Dutchmen answered in the bottom half of the second inning.

Jansen Loeb, Elias Medlock, Matt Eckelkamp and Bailey scored helping the Dutchmen to a 7-3 lead after two innings.

Seeing St. Clair cut their lead in half in the top of the third inning, Owensville answered with three runs in the bottom of the third when Medlock, Eckelkamp and Baumbach each scored.

OHS now led 10-5 after three innings.

Owen Binkhoelter helped his own cause in the bottom of the fourth when he scored on an error after being hit by a pitch to reach base.

Earning the win, Binkhoelter allowed six runs on eight hits and a walk to go with seven strikeouts.

Gates and Kleekamp each drove in two runs while Bailey and Medlock each scored a pair of runs helping the JV Dutchmen to their first win of the season.
