Donielle Farrar rounded out the area power lifting quintet with a bench press of 120 pounds and a deadlift of 210 pounds for a combined weight of 330 pounds.

All of the ladies won a gold medal for the bench, deadlift and combined weight in their classes broken down by age group and weight.

Tom earned a silver medal in bench press along with a gold medal on his deadlift and combined weight.

He also holds the SMSG record for his deadlift and combined weight.

Donielle Farrar and Kopp also hold the record for their bench press, deadlift and combined weight in their respective age group and weight class.

Entering Owensville Middle School this fall, Kennedy Reams’ Missouri Phenom (Grey) basketball team out of St. Louis dominated the fourth-grade recreational division in Columbia.

Losing their opening game of pool play by forfeit to the Wolves, Reams’ squad defeated the Ladycats 26-15 and the Lady Warriors 24-0 during day one of the tournament to advance to bracket action on day two.

Opening bracket play Sunday morning, the Missouri Phenom defeated the Lady Warriors 22-2 advancing themselves to the semifinals.

Dispatching the Wolves 24-7 avenging their tournament-opening loss, they advanced to the championship game against the Ladycats.

Already owning a 26-15 victory from pool play, Missouri Phenom made it two victories over the Ladycats with a 29-16 win giving them the gold medal in the fourth-grade recreational division.

Another session of the 2023 SMSG will be held in Columbia and the surrounding area starting Friday, July 28 and running through Sunday, July 30.

Area athletes are encouraged to submit their results for inclusion in next week’s Republican.
