MAATT Level 7 team claims third place at USA Gymnastics Championships

That is what members of the Mid-America Acro and Tumbling Team (MAATT) were in search of last week during the USA Gymnastics Championships held in Tulsa, Okla., at the BOK Center.

Fresh off their bronze medals on the world stage, the women’s pair of Mo Arthur and Ariana Katsov looked to add to their extensive medal haul and list of accomplishments in the Sooner State.

Starting their week in Tulsa with the balance portion of the competition, the MAATT duo claimed their first gold medal of the USA Gymnastics Championships with a score of 27.970.

Day two saw their pair also win gold in the Women’s Pair dynamic competition with a score of 28.630.

Wrapping up the competition with the Women’s Pair combined, Arthur and Katsov clinched their third gold medal of the championships with a score of 28.430.

Mo was not the only Arthur recognized last week.

Her mom Amy was presented with a USA Gymnastics Service Star Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions in the area of acrobatic gymnastics.

In addition to Katsov and Arthur’s three gold medals, MAATT’s Level 7 team placed third in the Level 7 Team Competition.

Seven pairs and/or teams competed for MAATT with their three best scores totaling 72.250 points good for third place behind EAGC’s 72.350 points and West Coast Training Center’s 74.100 points.

Posting the highest finish for MAATT in Level 7 was the 14-plus Men’s Pair of Brandon Lenauer and Liam Rasmussen with a second-place score of 23.550.

MAATT’s pair Level 7 Women’s Pair of Aubree Southerland and Piper Meyer placed third with a score of 24.750 in group A of the 12-13 age group.

In the Level 7 Women’s Pair 11U All-Around, the MAATT pair of Tynzlee Thomas and Dennise Butler placed third with a score of 21.800.

Also competing for MAATT in the Level 7 Women’s Pair 14-plus Group A All-Around were Brooklyn Kramme and Malorie Reasor.

Their score of 23.650 points placed them fourth in their group.

Three MAATT teams were among 12 teams in the Level 7 Women’s Group 12-13 All-Around age division.

Leading the trio of MAATT teams was the team of Ayla Eiler, Rylan Price and Brooke Tainter with a fourth-place score of 23.950.

Also tied for fifth with a score of 23.800 was the MAATT team of Hudsyn Sieckmann, Arie Isom and Cienna Corzine.

Rounding out the trio of MAATT teams was the threesome of Zoe Hiatt, Kali Mayfield-Bayhylle and Haylee Echols with a seventh-place score of 23.350.

MAATT was also represented in Tulsa by a pair of Level 9 teams.

Taking sixth in the Level 9 Women’s Pair 16-plus All-Around competition was Haylee Echols and Taylor Snodgrass with a sixth-place combined score of 48.600.

This was broken down with a score of 23.600 on the balance routine and a score of 25.000 on the dynamic routine.

Taking ninth in the 12-18 Women’s Group All Around was the MAATT team of Cailyn Hulsey, Clarice Krupp and Emilee Huebler with a ninth-place score of 51.090.

Hulsey, Krupp and Huebler were also named to the International Club Team.

Arthur and Katsov were also named to the Senior National Acrobatics Team for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
