Falling to Sullivan back on Thursday, Jan. 10, Danny Mundwiller’s Owensville freshmen Dutchmen basketball team had two shots to get a win last week.

Facing Belle’s freshmen Tigers in a Highway 28 showdown last Tuesday night, Owensville turned a 17-13 halftime lead into a 36-18 advantage after three quarters outscoring the visiting Tigers 19-5 to open the second half.

Going on to post a 52-32 victory, Mundwiller’s Dutchmen saw all but three players find the scoring column against the Tigers.

Playing to a 10-10 deadlock after one quarter, OHS got four points from Brendan Decker followed by two each from Austin Lowder, Landon Valley and Derek Brandt.

Belle was paced in the first seven minutes by four points from Thomas Lingo along with two each from Keith Rose, Justin Lingo and Will Doss.

Holding Belle without a field goal in the second quarter, Owensville saw Reagan Wehmeyer (2) and Ashton Kramme (1) join the scoring column before the end of the half.

Doss (2) and Thomas Lingo (1) hit free throws for Belle in the second quarter.

Logan Evans (2) became the newest Dutchmen to find the scorebook in the third quarter for OHS.

Thanks to five points from Decker along with four each from Lowder, Brandt and Reagan Wehmeyer, Owensville now had a 36-18 lead after three quarters.

 Carter Lairmore saved the best for last scoring all nine of his points in the fourth quarter helping the Dutchmen freshmen to Highway 28 hoops bragging rights.

Decker led OHS and all scorers with a game-high 11 points followed in double figures by Valley with 10 points.

Jacob Breedlove hit a fourth-quarter free throw for one point becoming the ninth Dutchmen to score against Belle.
