Nannette Fizette 1942-2026

Nannette Hagan Fizette, R.N., 84, La Russell, passed away peacefully on Sept. 25, 2026, in Haughton, La. after a long fulfilling life.

She was born May 30, 1942, to the late Ben T. and Anna E. Hagan in Lebanon, Tenn.

She was a 1960 graduate of Lebanon Tennessee High School and a 1964 graduate of Vanderbilt University with a B.S. Degree in Nursing.

While in college, Nannette met and was united in marriage to Norman B. Fizette on July 7, 1964 in Nashville, Tenn.

Their marriage of nearly 50 years followed them from Tennessee to Virginia and finally to Missouri before his passing in 2014, just six months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.

Nannette devoted many years to nursing but became a full-time devoted homemaker and loving mother once her children were born.

She was a very passionate gardener and loved to show visitors all of her flowers. Nannette always enjoyed visiting with family, friends, and neighbors. She was also known for having a home for old dogs and stray cats.

She was preceded in death by husband of 50 years, Norman; parents, Ben and Anna; brother, Ben T. Hagan, Jr and wife Mary; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Y. Fizette.

Nannette is survived by sons, Benjamin H. Fizette and wife Stephanie of Golden City and Hobson H. Fizette and wife Marsha of Trenton, Ill.; daughter, Memrie A.B. Clarke and husband Jeffrey of Haughton, La.;  grandchildren, Gabriel H. Fizette of Linn, Hannah Y. Fizette of Springfield and Anna B. Fizette of Golden City, Landen H. and Lila M. Fizette of Trenton, Ill. and Vincent D.H. and Nickolas C. Clarke of Haughton, La.; brother-in-law,William B. Fizette of Henryville, Pa.; nephews, Robert Y. Fizette and wife Doreen of Bethlehem, Pa. and John Y. Fizette of Henryville, Pa.; and beloved compassionate friend and caretaker, Ronda Burton to whom the family is deeply grateful to for the care and kindness she provided to Nannette and her family.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct.1, at Knell Mortuary in Carthage. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 2, at Park Cemetery in Carthage.

Memorial contributions suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Alzheimer’s Association or your local humane society.
