That was the mission on Saturday, April 1 for Owensville High School (OHS) track and field athletes during the annual Washington Pentathlon track meet at Washington High School.
OHS seniors Ella Gehlert (2,161 points) and Bryce Payne (2,815 points) led the way for the orange and black finishing in third place overall for their respective genders.
Gehlert placed third in the 800-meter run in 2:46 to go along with a fourth-place mark of 4.37 meters in the long jump.
She was also third in the high jump clear five feet to go along with sixth-place throw of 7.62m in the shot put.
Payne posted a pair of second-place times in the 1500m run (4:55) and the 110m hurdles (15.3)
He was also fifth in the shot put with a throw of 10.79m.
Charlie Whelan placed sixth overall with 2,365 points highlighted by a first-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.00m.
Gabe Soest just missed the top 10 overall placing 11th with 1,990 points.
His best showing came with a winning time of 4:40 in the 1500m run.
Ethan Harris was right behind him in 12th place overall highlighted by a sixth-place time of 5:21 in the 1500m.
Josie Gerlemann (1,488) placed 12th overall for the girls with her best finish coming in the shot put with a fourth-place throw of 7.82m.
Halle Engelbrecht scored 1,196 points by tying for eighth in the girls high jump clearing 4-4.
Umberto Bertesi’s best finish was a 17th-place time of 21.3 in the 110m hurdles.
