OWENSVILLE — Owensville High School will honor veterans and first responders during its home football game against Russellville on Friday, Sept. 11, at the OHS football field.
Gasconade County R-2 Superintendent Dr. Staci Johnson said the game has a lot in store for veterans and first responders as they celebrate Patriot’s Day.
“Sept. 11, we will be recognizing any veteran or first responder alumni. Will have a big tailgate event and red, white and blue theme for the student section,” Johnson said. “They will have a moment of silence before the game, after recognizing alumni.”
All veterans and first responders will receive free admission to the game. Those attending will be called to the track beginning at 6:15 p.m. and organized into groups for a recognition ceremony scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
The national anthem will be played at 6:45 p.m. as members of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6133 raise the American flag.
Following the coin toss, those in attendance will observe a moment of silence. An OHS band member will play taps before the game begins in honor of all of the brave service members who lost their lives.
