OWENSVILLE —Angela Lairmore, director of the Owensville Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) informed the Board of Aldermen at their first meeting of February that she’s received a lot of interest in the open positions being advertised for summer employment.
With Winter Water Park opening in just a few months on Saturday, May 23, Lairmore seeks to have a fully staffed and fully trained team ready to run the city’s aquatic amenities. Among the roles listed as seasonal opportunities are admission and concession attendants, lifeguards, pool assistant laborer, manager and assistant manager.
Those selected for the roles are expected “to provide exceptional customer service to every guest, maintain a clean and presentable environment and give 120 percent all season long,” according to the city’s website.
Lairmore visits the local schools scouting for students interested in joining the OPRD team and has upcoming visits planned at Owensville High School on Thursday, Feb. 12 and Wednesday, Feb. 23. She will visit Maries County R-2 High School once more on Thursday, Feb. 19. Students interested are encouraged to visit her table during their lunch period.
Lairmore shared with the board that this year, she feels she has gotten more genuine interest and less visits from students only interested in the snacks.
The city of Owensville had several open roles listed on their employment site Sunday, accessible by visiting cityofowensville.com. Additional roles included laborers and attendants at the golf course and a public works laborer. The building inspector position listed has been filled by Bob Reese of B and D Consultants. In a consensus vote by the Board of Aldermen on Feb. 2, Reese was offered employment as the city’s building inspector.
